Our Roots
Nourish Delaware was born out of necessity and passion during the unprecedented challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. As the world faced a global crisis, food security became a pressing issue for countless communities. Our founder, then serving as a Public Ally, was deeply involved in multiple food security projects, working alongside grassroots organizations to address hunger and inequity. It was in this challenging environment that the seeds of Nourish Delaware were planted.Rooted in the Public Allies philosophies, we believe in the power of community-driven change. We see every community as rich in talent, resources, and potential. Nourish Delaware became our way of using our time, talent, and treasure to rebuild and strengthen our local food system, ensuring that no child goes hungry and every family has access to nutritious, sustainable food. Our journey is about more than just providing meals it’s about fostering a resilient, self-sustaining communities. By developing local partnerships, training future environmental stewards, and leveraging the skills and passion of community members, we are building a future where food is abundant, accessible, and justly distributed. Every project we undertake is a testament to the power of collaboration, collective action, and the belief that sustainable solutions start from within the community.Nourish Delaware isn’t just an organization; it’s a movement a manifestation of the Public Allies values we hold dear. Together, we are transforming the food landscape in Delaware, one garden, one meal, and one community at a time.
